Our Remodeling Process

1.

Meet The Builder!

Let’s chat! Our first meeting is one of the most important meetings throughout the process. We will discuss the remodeling process in detail from start to finish. At this meeting we would like to establish both short and long term goals and what your expectations are and how we can put those goals and expectations into an actionable plan. Below are a few of the items we will be discussing:

  1. Type of Remodel or Addition
  2. Amenities and details to be included in your remodeling project
  3. Timeline of project
  4. Remodeling costs to establish a budget

2.

Design & Remodel

Remodeling a home is an exciting journey where there a lot of decisions to be made! During this step you can select from our many projects, customize one that we have or you may choose to design your own remodeling project from the ground up. We will go through our scope-of-work to see what will suit your needs.    We call this process a white canvas approach because after all, it is YOUR home remodel, YOUR lifestyle we are creating. Once we have achieved your goals in this phase and a scope-of-work is established, a formal proposal will be supplied for you to sign off on.

3.

Pre-Construction Meeting

This is where the fun starts! We will complete a detailed question and answer form. This will confirm most questions are answered prior to preparing a final set of plans. Our goal is to provide YOU with a detailed set of plans prior to beginning the project to avoid any future changes or additional costs. Internally at Spectrum we assemble the team to go over the nitty-gritty of remodeling your home. Our team will put together all the technical information for the final scope-of-work. Don’t worry! You get to do the fun stuff…picking out anything and everything for your newly remodeled space!

4.

Remodeling Begins!

After the financing is completed the remodeling of your new home will begin! This is probably one of the most exciting times for YOU as all the hard work and pre-planning becomes a reality. During remodeling the Spectrum Remodeling team will support you from beginning to end. For our larger remodeling projects, our Builders Trend technology will allow you to track the progress of your home remodel from your mobile device day-to-day.

Cosmetic Upgrade, Remodel or Renovate?

What’s the difference?  Well, there actually is a difference.  We have outlined it below for you. As the value of real estate has increased dramatically in the Lehigh Valley recently, now may be the time to utilize the equity built up in your home.  You can upgrade your living space with a simple remodel, a complete space renovation or an addition! Call for a free consultation!

Cosmetic Upgrade

Cosmetic upgrades are making changes to an existing space that are only cosmetic.  Typically these changes are less time consuming and less of a financial commitment.  A cosmetic upgrade could involve painting cabinets, changing faucets, and fixtures, upgrading lighting, and painting the walls.  This option is quicker time wise than remodeling or renovating because there are no permits or inspections necessary.  For example, a bathroom cosmetic upgrade usually takes 2 to 3 weeks depending on supplies being readily available.

Remodeling

Remodeling is improving an existing space.  There is no moving of walls, or utilities including plumbing or electrical.  Typically, remodeling will involve replacing existing tile, installing a new vanity, replacing flooring, toilet, fixtures, cabinets, appliances, etc.   To finish the new space a coat of paint is applied to tie it all together.  Remodeling a space is quicker time wise than renovating because there are no permits or inspections necessary.  For example, a bathroom remodel usually takes 3 to 4 weeks depending on supplies being readily available.

Renovating

Renovating is an extensive complete improvement is an existing space.  A Project Manager will be assigned to your project and they will be responsible for coordinating all the trades involved as well as inspections.  Permits and inspections are involved in a renovation.  Below are some of the trades that are usually involved with a renovation:

  • Carpenter
  • Demolition
  • Electrician
  • Insulation
  • Mechanical HVAC
  • Sheetrock installers & finishers
  • Tile installers
  • Painters
  • Glass/shower door/countertop installers
Spectrum Homes and Remodeling is aware of the inconvenience remodeling can have on your everyday life.  The degree of your remodeling project, renovation or addition can expand the timeline beyond what you see on our website.  We will always ensure that communication lines between us and you are open and that you are aware of any changes that may happen.
